Original is 22" x 30" (approximately 727mm x 606mm),
Pen & Ink and watercolor on Arches 300 lb cold press watercolor paper.
This was based on a 17th century Ukiyo-e by an unknown author. I added fluidity, color, and some depth to the figure that
isn't normally charictaristic of ukiyo-e, which tend to be flat. In this piece I wanted wild fall colors, with brilliant
reds, yellows, and oranges. In the wash I was careful to blend numerous reds and yellows and some some subtle browns for
the comlex colors found as the fall trees drop their leaves before winter.
