Maiko Maiko

These women are "Maiko", or Geisha in training. This is a very familiar scene in the historical city of Kyoto (Okoshiyasu), Japan, where geisha and maiko are still very common place. I think this scene captures the every day feel of Kyoto, the smiles, the colors and atmosphere. I chose a more abstract background as I want the viewer to focus on the feeling conveyed in the painting, rather than all the details of a cluttered and busy city street scene.
